Kering contacted us three days before they were scheduled to shoot Kelly Slater for the #BeHerVoice campaign in Los Angeles. They had already shot a video of another celebrity and they wanted Kelly Slater’s video to look exactly the same, so we set about gathering the resources we’d need to get the exact same look as the example photos they provided. We jumped into action, and 72 hours later we showed up at the World Surf Headquarters in Santa Monica to shoot Kelly. The shoot couldn’t have gone any smoother. We captured beautiful footage and photos of Kelly Slater. Later that evening, we overnighted a hard drive with the footage to Paris so that it could be edited into the beautiful video you see above.
We were so honored to be able to take part in a campaign that gives a voice to women whose voices so often go unheard.

Kering is a global luxury group that owns brands including Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Yves Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Brioni, and Stella McCartney. In November of 2016, Kering launched the Kering Foundation’s 5th annual White Ribbon for Women campaign, working to combat violence against women. In order to articulate that violence against women is not just a women’s issue, male ambassadors voice the true stories of female victims who in turn received support from the foundation from bravely sharing their experiences. In part of White Ribbon’s digital campaign to promote this important cause, the portraits are shared with the hashtag #BeHerVoice to encourage everyone to speak up on violence against women.
